DP to HDMI stands for DisplayPort to HDMI, which is a type of adapter or cable that allows you to connect a device with a DisplayPort (DP) output to a display with an HDMI input.
Function: Converts the video (and sometimes audio) signal from DisplayPort (commonly found on PCs, laptops, and graphics cards) to HDMI (commonly found on TVs, monitors, and projectors).
Direction: DP to HDMI only works one way unless it's a special bidirectional adapter. Most are uni-directional (DP source ➝ HDMI display).
Compatibility: Used when your computer has only DP output and your monitor or TV accepts only HDMI input.
Audio Support: Many DP to HDMI adapters support audio, but this depends on the device and the adapter.
Connector Types: One end is a DisplayPort male, and the other end is an HDMI male or female.
Versions: HDMI 1.4, 2.0, or 2.1 for 4K or higher resolutions; DisplayPort 1.2 or 1.4.
Passive vs. Active Adapters:
Passive: Requires the source (like a laptop or GPU) to support dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++).
Active: Contains a chip to convert signals and is required when your source does not support DP++ (common in gaming GPUs with multiple outputs).
Connect a laptop or desktop to a TV or monitor to display videos, presentations, or for gaming.
